Resurrection

Paul Morris

2025-05-30 to 2025-07-06

Reception: 2025-05-30 6–8pm

Resurrection is a fine art series of photographic images produced without using a traditional camera. This dynamic image series explores America’s disposable society by bringing back to life the discards of our modern world. Using a process Paul titled “Scanography” he uses a flatbed scanner to digitize found objects in very high resolution to capture the fine textures and colors. The long lost objects now take on a new life as fine art photography. Each image explores unseen aesthetic visual qualities of trash and evokes a story of past use on a journey taken through our world.

A book project grew out of the Resurrection series titled “Afterlife”. It is a natural progression to collaborate with wordsmiths to extending the intellectual boundaries of the project into a book with stories to accompany the images.

The book is an evolving work-in-progress, and there are many more images and tales to come. Paul is actively seeking writers to participate in the project. A prototype version of the book is available for viewing. No trash was harmed in the production of this work.

For more than four decades Paul Morris has been a prominent member of the Florida photographic arts community. Having had a long career creating unique commissioned images for commercial clients he has moved on to creating fine-art works for his soul. He is a Compulsive-Creator who has-to make art. He applies a finely crafted personal style to a wide range of two and three dimensional fine-art mediums. Photography is a creative medium where Paul experiments using digital and traditional film based processes to make inspired images, created with a vision that has roots in history but is firmly grounded in the twenty-first century. Paul also creates 3D sculptural works using wood, organic, and found objects to create sophisticated one-of-a-kind pieces that enhance interior and exterior spaces. His works can be seen in many homes, institutions and galleries throughout the US and Europe.

Since moving to Mount Dora in 2017, Paul has been working in the arts community and volunteering with the Mount Dora Center For The Arts. He is currently the Gallery Director there and is working to bring diverse art exhibits to town, including local and Florida based artists.
